In 2006 artist and composer Monika Weiss recorded sounds of the World Financial Center Winter Garden. Suspended from above the site, Weiss recorded and merged the sonic layers of sound which include passersby, children playing and mechanical noises. She further expanded this sonic field by adding sounds of running horses. Several times throughout the composition we hear the voice of Anthony Roth-Costanzo, Countertenor, recorded by the artist in 2005 in her studio at the Experimental Intermedia Foundation, New York. Together the layers of sound become an immersive sonic field evoking choral qualities of the urban space and the natural landscape.

In 2006 the remains of the victims of September 11th attacks were still searched for; the ruins were visible from the site of the project. Drawing Lethe included the sound composition which was heard from the underground pits around the palm trees. The project also functioned as a performative drawing. Large-scale sheets of canvas covered the entire site, onto which the artist lay down to draw around her body, with participation of pedestrians who also were invited to lie down and listen, and draw around their silhouettes. The artist created the project in commemoration of the September 11th attacks.

Weiss was commissioned to create Drawing Lethe by WFC Winter Garden and The Drawing Center as part of River to River festival.

W 2006 roku artystka i kompozytorka Monika Weiss zarejestrowała dźwięki przestrzeni Winter Garden World Financial Center. Zawieszona nad przestrzenią, Weiss nagrała i połączyła warstwy dźwiękowe obejmujące odgłosy przechodniów, bawiących się dzieci oraz hałas mechaniczny. Następnie rozszerzyła to pole dźwiękowe, dodając odgłosy biegnących koni. W kilku momentach kompozycji słychać głos kontratenora Anthony’ego Rotha-Costanzo, zarejestrowany przez artystkę w 2005 roku w jej studiu w fundacji Experimental Intermedia w Nowym Jorku. Połączone warstwy dźwięku tworzą immersyjne pole akustyczne, przywołujące chóralny charakter przestrzeni miejskiej i krajobrazu naturalnego.

W 2006 roku wciąż trwały poszukiwania szczątków ofiar zamachów z 11 września; z miejsca realizacji projektu widoczne były ruiny. Projekt *Drawing Lethe* obejmował kompozycję dźwiękową, która dobiegała z zagłębień w podłożu, otaczających rosnące tam palmy. Przedsięwzięcie miało również charakter rysunku performatywnego. Artystka pokryłą przestrzeń wielkoformatowymi płótnami; artystka kładła się na nich, by obrysować kontur własnego ciała, a do udziału zapraszano także przechodniów – zachęcano ich, by kładli się, słuchali i również obrysowywali swoje sylwetki. Artystka stworzyła ten projekt, aby upamiętnić ofiary zamachów z 11 września.
